This introductory environmental science, environmental engineering and municipal engineering course will explore how physicochemical technology and techniques are applied to water and wastewater treatment. We will explore the basic calculation method, composition of structures and operation characteristics, and the latest advancements in water and wastewater treatment technology. Main physicochemical units, including coagulation and flocculation, sedimentation, flotation, filtration, disinfection, oxidation and reduction, membrane separation and ionic exchange, will be covered.

《水处理工程》是清华大学为环境工程、环境科学、市政工程等相关专业学生开设的主干专业课,包括物化处理技术和生化处理技术两大部分。《水处理工程-物化技术》旨在向学生全面讲授水和废水处理中主要的物化处理技术单元的基本原理和特点、工艺的基本计算方法和应用范围、主要构筑物的构成和运行特点、典型的水与废水处理工艺以及相关技术的国内外最新研究进展。本课程介绍的主要物化技术单元包括:混凝、沉淀与澄清、气浮、过滤、消毒、离子交换、膜分离、氧化还原和吸附。

黄霞,博士,清华大学环境学院教授、环境模拟与污染控制国家重点联合实验室主任,长江学者奖励计划特聘教授,国家杰出青年基金获得者。国家精品课程《水处理工程》负责人、国家精品课程《环境工程原理》主讲教师。主要从事膜法水处理技术、生物电化学水处理技术、污水资源化等方面的研究工作。主著或参编著作/教材4部。曾获宝钢优秀教师特等奖、北京市优秀教师、北京市优秀教学成果一等奖、清华大学教学成果特等奖各1次,国家科技进步二等奖2次,高等学校科技进步奖等省部级一等奖5次,国际期刊Environmental Science and Technology 2009年度十佳论文奖。

Xia Huang holds a Ph.D degree, is a professor in the School of Environment at Tsinghua University as well as director of the State Key Joint Laboratory of Environment Simulation and Pollution Control. She was awarded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the Yangtse River Scholar award. Dr. Huang’s research focuses on membrane based water and wastewater treatment technology, bio-electrochemical wastewater treatment technology, and wastewater reuse. She is a lecturers in the National Best Course: Water and Wastewater Treatment Engineering and Principles of Environment Engineering. She was the recipient of outstanding award of Baogang Outstanding Teacher Award and awarded as Excellent Teacher of Beijing. She was awarded 1st prize for Excellent Teaching Achievement in Beijing and outstanding award for Teaching Achievements at Tsinghua University. Dr. Huang has been awarded National Science and Technology Progress 2nd Prize twice and 1st Prize of Science and Technology Progress in higher schools for five times. She has written and/or edited four books, including textbooks. In 2009, Dr.Huang was the recipient of top10 best papers award of the journal: Environmental Science and Technology.
