_Brought to you by the US Department of State and Arizona State University, this course is designed for internationally-minded faculty, staff, and administrators working in US higher education institutions who would like to increase rates of study abroad participation. This course is also for people who aspire to work in international education and would like an orientation to the field. _

Want to increase your educational institution’s study abroad efforts? Whether you work for a community college, a large, small, public or private university, or any other type of higher education institution in the US, this course will help you form partnerships, develop policies and procedures, advise students, promote scholarships, deliver orientations, and market your programs. You will learn recommended practices for ensuring the health and safety of students while abroad, and case studies will show you how the study abroad experience can be integrated into your school’s curriculum and can internationalize your campus. By the end of the course, you will have developed a long-term strategy for your institution that prioritizes reaching diverse students.

As Director of Study Abroad at Arizona State University (ASU), Dr. Adam Henry directs the vision of study abroad and its connection across disciplines and campuses. He leads the office and works closely with a wide array of ASU faculty and senior administration to develop and advance study abroad goals and initiatives for the institution. He also teaches undergraduate courses through the ASU School of Politics and Global Studies and the College of Letters and Sciences. He holds a B.A. in International Studies, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and an Ed.D. in Leadership and Innovation.

Executive Director for Academic and Global Engagement Arizona State University
As Executive Director for Academic and Global Engagement at Arizona State University (ASU), Jennifer Malerich directs the strategic vision for a holistic global education and study abroad experience for ASU students, and its connection to ASU’s many initiatives with regards to innovation, the undergraduate curriculum and student development. She applies her expertise in global education policy, practice and implementation to new university initiatives at the Provost’s Office and President’s Office. Ms. Malerich holds a B.A. in International Studies and an M.S. in Global & International Education. Prior to coming to ASU she had almost a decade of experience working in program development and onsite operations for a major third-party study abroad provider.
