Instructor's Bio and Course Overview
Hi and welcome to the Snare Drum Mastery 101 e-course!  My name is Josh Lappin and I will be your instructor throughout this series.  I am the founder of https://parttimedrummer.com, a drumming education website that specializes in educating a variety of drummers including begineers, drummers with limited time, worship drummers, drummers needing reading skills and groove based drummers.  We really have something for everyone.  Snare drum mastery 101 is just one of several courses we offer at https://parttimedrummer.com.  I encourage you to check out the site for more information.   Before we get started, let me tell you a little more about myself.  At the time of this recording, I am a 36 year old, North Carolina resident, married with two kids.  I work full-time in the telecom industry but spend my nights and weekends in musical activities and working with the https://parttimedrummer.com website.  I started playing drums in my early teens and took lessons from a gentleman name Billy Cuthrell, a well recognized drummer in our region.  From there, I went on to play with a variety of churches and gospel groups in my late teens and early twenties.  I attended Barton College where I played for the orchestra as well as earned a degree in recording technology.  These days I spend my time assisting local churches with drumming and sound as well as producing and servicing drummers through the https://parttimedrummer.com website.  In addition to the drums, I also play bass, piano and work in live sound and recording.   Snare drum mastery 101 is an entry level course designed to teach drums by focusing on one of the main components to drumming, the snare drum.  Proper mastery of the snare drum will greatly enhance a drummers abilities and skills.  In Snare drum mastery 101, we focus on developing proper technique, the ability to read music, as well as introducing the drummer to all the standard drum rudiments.  This is an intense course, but if you complete it and do all the exercises, you will have a solid foundation as a drummer and have the fundamental skills needed to continue more advanced education.   If you any questions about the course, please feel free to contact me through Udemy or directly  through my email address, josh@parttimedrummer.com. I hope you enjoy the course and that it helps you along your drumming journey!
