In this video we begin to look through the basic structure and function of the macronutrients, starting with carbohydrates and protein. We unravel what these actually are, what roles they play in our bodies and why they're so important for good health! We emphasise the importance of carbohydrate for whole-body metabolism, and protein for muscle health. And, to make this content more applied, we briefly show you some great sources of carbohydrates and protein that you can include in your diet.
So, we've looked at carbohydrates and protein; what these are and why they are so important for our health. In this video, we delve into the controversial subject of fat. Not all fat is the same, and throughout this video we debunk several of the myths and demonstrate why 'balance' really is the key when it comes to fat in your diet. In the latter part of this video, we take a whistle-stop tour of the small but powerful world of micronutrients (i.e. vitamins and minerals). We show why these are important, and suggest a few that could be particularly useful when it comes to life-long health or if you are an older adult.Be sure to download our accompanying 'essentials' vitamins and minerals sheets to further boost your knowledge.
In this video, we combine all the knowledge of macronutrients and micronutrients into some take-home applied messages. Specifically, we look at processed foods and discover what makes a food 'processed', and why not all processed foods are inherently bad for your health. In the latter part of the video, we combine all of this knowledge and content from the previous videos to present how you can make a great meal, every time, in just four easy steps!
In this video we delve into some of the most common age-related health problems that affect many of us as we get older. Regardless of your age, this content is very important as we believe there are many things that you can do to limit your chances of developing diseases when you approach your later years. We briefly examine a handful of these health issues, and demonstrate how nutrition could have a direct impact in managing or even preventing these.
We all get old at some point. What we do to our bodies now in terms of physical activity and nutrition will play a central role in how healthily we age. This video is aimed at helping you discover just how you can do that.
More and more of us are taking nutritional supplements because we believe they'll help us to: stay thin, build muscle, make our hair thicker....the list goes on. But, do we really need them? In this video, we debunk some of the myths surrounding nutritional supplements. You'll discover how you can decide whether you need to take a supplement, how to choose the best information sources to go to, and which supplements we recommend for adults of any age (hint: there's only three!). At the end of this video, we'll take you on a whistle-stop tour of all the previous videos to tie them all together.
