Voice Physiology - How The Voice Works
At the end of this section you will have athorough understanding of voice anatomy and how it works together to produce sound.
Voice Physiology - Introduction
  • In this lecture I'll go over a summary of what we you will be learning and what you will be able to do should you complete the course. From Voice Physiology, breathing anatomy, 3 pillars of the voice, right down to vocal warm ups and the extra's that are included.
Anatomy of the Throat & Head
A description and explanation of:the larynx;pharynx;trachea:epiglottis;throat;mouth;tongue and head.
This lecture also includes diagrams showing where everything is located.Once you understand how it all works together, you will have an excellent background for the purpose of breathing and vocal exercises.
The Vocal Folds

A description of how the vocal folds produce sound, including photos of real live vocal folds!You will learn how they come together for phonation (singing/speaking etc), and what they are doing at rest.You will also learn where they are placed in the throat. This lecture will help you understand why good vocal technique is important, and behind a sore or inflamed throat (and how to avoid it if you can!)

Breathing Anatomy
Breathing is much more complex than we realise. We do it every day without thinking - but what is really happening when we breathe, and is there a certain way to breath for singing?This lecture will demystify what is taking place in the body when you breathe.A description of how the intercostal muscles, the diaphragm, lungs and ribcage work together to produce breath effective for singing and speaking. Includes diagrams.

A summary of what we have learned of voice physiology and breathing anatomy during this section. This will include an overview of the anatomy of throat and head, vocal folds, intercostal muscles, diaphragm, lungs and rib cage.
